Since 2012, the Vann Team has been proud to partner with Safe Kids Florida Suncoast, which is led by St. Petersburg All Children’s Hospital, who provides dedicated staff members, operational support and a number of other resources to achieve our common goal of keeping kids safe. Through the implementation of evidence-based programs, Safe Kids Florida Suncoast has made great strides in limiting the number of accidental injuries and injury-related deaths to children in Pinellas County. This organization has conducted car-seat checkups, safety workshops and sports clinics toassist parents with preventing childhood injuries, as well as increasing the overall health and safety of families through education and exercise.
The Vann Team is also a proud member of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, whose main focus is to ensure the economic growth and vitality of our local community. David Vann has participated in Leadership St. Pete, a program directed by the chamber to identify, recruit and develop individuals who represent the community’s diversity and provide the leadership needed for a successful future.
The Vann Team has a big heart for little league baseball. David has been a volunteer coach for The Northeast Little League for a number of years now. All of his 3 sons play ball. David was elected to be a member of the board in 2015. The Vann Team Realty group provides financial sponsorship of the teams including donations to improve the field and cages. In addition, The Vann Team and their players and parents from Northeast Little League assembled baseball equipment and apparel for donation to kids and adults who love baseball in Kenya.
Megan is an active volunteer and mentor at the Salvation Army Sallie House and Children’s Village. The Sallie House and Children’s Village programs are designed to provide stable and safe placement of children who have been removed from their families for either a short or long term until the children can be reunited with their families, placed in a foster home or adopted.
In January 2016, David and Megan brought their community involvement interests together by facilitating a Northeast Little League baseball event for the children of Sallie House and Children’s Village. The Northeast Little League provided scholarships for 18 kids to play in their Spring League. Each child was given a glove, bat, helmet and cleats to keep. Coaches and players from Nell in addition to volunteers and Salvation Army staff helped the kids learn the skills they would need to be a team player and have a fun time playing ball!
